Search-and-rescue-gets-software-defined-radiosRAF pilots flying Sea King HAR 3 helicopters are to get new radios which will maintain the RAF's airborne Search and Rescue capability until the aircraft goes out of service. The MoD has procured more 40 R&S M3AR series radios from Rohde & Schwarz to equip the Sea King HAR 3 fleet and the training Flight Simulator. The radios will replace the ARC-115 VHF and ARC-116 UHF Air Traffic Control radios, which have been installed since the aircraft was built.

Eureka hosts successful motion control design day

Eureka magazine, the market leading publication for the UK's engineering designers, held its second motion control & automation design day on the 13th May at Eastwood Hall in Nottingham.

The event, which was sponsored by Festo, Aerotech and Micro-Epsilon, was a great success with some 40 design engineers taking part in practical hands on workshops and a series of case study based presentations.

Judges announced for British Engineering Excellence Awards
13/05/2009
The British Engineering Excellence Awards judging panel has been announced. The latest addition to this group of industry leaders is Richard Noble OBE, holder of the land speed record and head of the BLOODHOUND Project.

Richard Noble will also deliver the keynote address at the Awards ceremony which takes place at Shakespeare's The Globe on October 1st.
